Inside the Macintosh Classic

Today I decided to open my Macintosh Classic in order to replace the empty Battery.
This is not an easy task because the Battery is placed on the main Board wich has to be remove completely to gain access to the Battery.

To remove the Backcover from the Frontbezel, you have to unscrew 4 Screws (Torx 1,5).
Two at the bottom an two at the Top. I used a 3mm screwdriver with 15mm length to access the top screws  wich are way inside the plastic mold.

After this you have to remove the Hard Disk Cable, the Floppy Disk Cable and the powersupply-cable from the motherboard and also unplug the Memory extension at the left side of the chassis.

Now you can pull the motherboard easyly ouside the chassis and gain access to everything on the board. The blue 3.6V Battery is located at the top right. You can simply replace it by pulling it out of the holder pulling back a new one.

Here you can see the 2Mbyte RAM extension wich makes 4MB total with the 2MB on the Board itself;

After refitting everything to its place and closeing the backcase, I booted my Mac without problems.
The Date and Time, Mouse and Keyboard settings will now be saved after shutting down or removing the powercord from the Mac :)
